Ramsgate
Watch the fisherman land their daily catch, enjoy a pleasure boat cruise along the coast - Ramsgate is the place for all things maritime!

Over the centuries, the unique character of Ramsgate has been defined by its seafaring past. At the heart of this picturesque maritime town is the bustling harbour, endowed with royal status by King George IV and home to an enormous variety of vessels from the local fishing boats and cross-channel catamarans to luxury cruisers and hundreds of racing yachts.
The harbour and surrounding bays offer a range of water excursions and activities, from watching the fisherman landing their daily catch to enjoying a pleasure boat cruise along the coast - or even popping across the channel to Belgium for the day for a continental lunch and a spot of shopping. |

The harbour is an attractive combination of the old and new, as graceful and colourful Regency architecture looks down over the seafront development of the modern marina. Take a leisurely stroll around to enjoy the sights before stopping to feast on the locally caught fresh seafood at the one of the many harbour-side restaurants.
The Granville Theatre offers a variety of live entertainment, and if you are visiting in May you enjoy the varied delights of the town's annual Spring Festival or the Harbour Heritage Festival in August. And throughout July and August history comes to life on Ramsgate's guided costumed walks as you meet famous characters from the past. |

| The rich and varied history of the town is reflected in the Ramsgate Museum, packed with local archaeological finds and mementoes of famous citizens, while Ramsgate's seafaring past is evocatively captured at the maritime Museum in the Clock House. |

Apart from its fine sandy beach, Ramsgate has plenty of other attractions for kids.
You can keep them entertained at the Ramsgate Boulevard Family Amusement Centre, or let them run wild at the Westcliff Leisure Park which features a boating pool, outdoor adventure playground and indoor adventure playground and indoor amusement arcade. And don't forget a visit to the Viking ship 'Hugin', a full-size replica on permanent display on the clifftop at Pegwell Bay which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1999. |
