St Aidan's Hotel, Seahouses, Front of House

St Aidan Hotel occupies an unrivalled position on the sea front of the spectacular Hertitage Coast.

Built in local sandstone, the house was originally intended as the manse for the local Methodist Church but, on completion, it was too expensive. Instead, it was used as a holiday home until the nineteen thirties, after which it became a hotel.

The hotel HAS eight, en suite bedrooms all of which offer beautiful sea views. Well-behaved are welcome.

St Aidan's Hotel, Seahouses, Sunset

Quietly situated on the edge of the bustling, fishing village of seahouses, it is a short stroll along the sea front to the bars, restaurants and shops adjacent to the harbour. For the more energetic, Bamburgh Castle can be reached by walking along the white sand beach, seen from our windows.

St Aidan is an ideal base for a visit to the 'Secret Kingdom' of North Northumberland. Near at hand dotted along the coast with its miles of safe, sandy beaches, are numerous castles, some still homes, others now ruined, but all evocative of a colourful past. Further inland, but well within easy reach, are the stately homes of Cragside,Wallington Hall and Alnwick Castle itself, seat of the Duke of Northumberland. Lindisfarne, with its castle and priory, and the walled town of Berwick are also popular with our guests.

For nature lovers, boat trips run from the harbour to the nearby Farne Islands, of Grace Darling fame, now a bird sanctuary and home to a large seal colony. Guests who enjoy walking can choose between the coast or the Cheviot hills, and are welcome to make use of our books on the subject.

A wide variety of sports are available locally, from golf and horse riding to diving, surfing and fishing. The county has so much to offer, but most of all it combines the peace and tranquillity of yesteryear with the comforts of today.

Where a warm welcome awaits you
