Stonecross Manor Hotel is situated on the edge of Kendal one of South Lakeland's most important market towns and is an idea base from which to explore some of Britain's most beautiful countryside.

As a guest you might choose to pass the time in one of the hotel's lounges, enjoy a swim in the heated indoor pool or take an aperitif in the Westmorland Bar followed by a delicious meal in Catherine's Restaurant.

Stonecross Manor was originally an orphanage for young girls having to go into service, bequeathed to Kendal in 1857 by the Squiress of Levens, Mrs. Mary Howard. The house was extensively modernised and converted to the fine building you see today.

The Kent Room
The Kent Room takes its name from the nearby River Kent. Here you can relax with a drink and a book or spend time with friends, perhaps rediscovering a talent for one of the many board games that are available.

The Kent Room is ideal for small private receptions or parties for up to twenty five guests.

The Westmorland Gazette Bar
The Westmorland Gazette is the local newspaper. The bar celebrates the area's history, its walls covered in photographs of the region and its people, including a photograph of the matron and orphan girls who lived on this site many years ago.

The Westmorland Gazette Bar is the perfect place to meet friends for drinks, get to know your fellow guests, or to take coffee and perhaps an after dinner brandy.

Catherine's Restaurant
Catherine's Restaurant is named after Catherine Parr, the sixth wife of King Henry VIII. Catherine was born and spent the early part of her life in Kendal Castle.

Stonecross Manor is proud of its team of professional chefs, who design menus using fresh local produce. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and evening dinner and is the reason that many local people are frequent visitors to Stonecross Manor.
