Stryt Cottage is situated in the small, peaceful village of Clocaenog nestling in a valley on the edge of Clocaenog Forest.

The village has a 13th century church, small school, post office and an abundance of beautiful local walks. Stryt Cottage can also be used as a base for visiting many other scenic areas such as Snowdonia National Park, The Lleyn Peninsula and the picturesque Vale of Clywd. 21 miles away is the interesting Roman City of Chester with excellent shopping.

Clocaenog is 4 1/2 miles from the small medieval town of Ruthin with its lovely Parish Church, half timbered buildings and an ancient castle, which has been transformed into a hotel. There are two excellent restaurants in the town and several inns providing bar meals.

The first class accommodation at Stryt Cottage comprises a double room with wash basin and french windows leading to a pretty cottage garden. There are tea/coffee making facilities and colour television in the room and guests have thier own bathroom with bath/shower.

Stryt Cottage supports the RSPB's Ghosts of the forest - black grouse watch event.

In the heart of the Clocaenog forest, a hide where you can view black grouse and other wildlife has now been opened to the public. This is one of the only places in the UK where you can see the elusive black grouse perform their theatrical mating display. Directions

From Ruthin take B5105. Follow signs (other routes) towards Denbigh. Texaco Garage on left. Turn left, road swings sharply right - this is the B5105.

Should you come through Ruthin town centre Texaco Garage will be on your right. Go straight on at T junction.

Carry straight on up heading for Cerrigydrudion road starts to narrow and you begin to climb. Church on right as you go round sharp bend. Crosskeys pub on left. Turn 2nd right after Crosskeys. You can see the turn from the Crosskeys. Carry on up the hill - houses on left, road swings round to left. Opposite white house on right signpost 2 ½ miles to Clacaenog. Carry on and you will drop down into village. School on left.

Turn right opposite school into village. (white house facing school). A few yards down is new stone built house on left, then double black and white garage - you've arrived. Just pull in front of the garage.
