Swaynes Firs Farm is a small but active farm with beef cattle in the paddocks, together with a wide range of poultry, geese, peacocks, hens, Silkie Bantams and ornamental ducks. We share our lawns with strutting peacocks, geese and our hens. The ornamental ducks can be viewed from the dining room. It is quite entertaining to see the ducks cavorting whilst enjoying your breakfast. We also feed and encourage the wild birds that live on and around our property, they are always a joy to watch.

The farm is 11 acres in total. The house was built in 1926. Arthur Shering bought Swaynes Firs in 1972 and has since then been developing the small farm into a haven for birds and humans alike. The bed and breakfast has been operating since May 1982. To those with an interest in the past Swaynes Firs is fascinating because The Grimsditch runs through the farm and is thought to have been constructed in the Bronze Age (1000 BC to 500BC) for farming purposes and as a tribal Celtic boundary ditch. It is also locally known as the Grims Dyke or Devils Ditch.
