Fine Scottish Fayre...

The Packet's reputation for its food has spread far and wide. Lunches and evening meals are served throughout both bars and in the lower dining room and conservatory restaurants. The emphasis is on serving the freshest of Scottish produce, particularly seafood that is often bought straight from boats landing in front of the hotel. Traditional Sunday Lunches are served and children and special diets are catered for.

How Refreshing…

Relax in either of the comfortable bars undisturbed by TV, fruit machines or piped music. Try none of our numerous malt whiskies or one of the real ales that we offer. Alastair has built up a comprehensive wine list with at least six available by the glass. Fresh ground coffees are available; from espresso to latte - satisfying even the most discerning caffeine lover.

The hotel caters to an eclectic mix of locals, visitors and fishermen who come to enjoy the informal atmosphere of the pub. Children and dogs are welcome and are catered for at all times.

Isle of Whithorn...

The picturesque village of Isle of Whithorn nestles around its harbour on the southernmost tip of the Machars peninsula. The village has a long history of seafaring and trade dating back to the Vikings and St Ninian through the era of the topsail schooners, both legal and smuggler, to the age of the Steam Packets ships, and now to the fishermen and leisure craft that ply the Solway.
