Completed in 2001, the house was carefully conceived to provide a comfortable home with modern facilities while outwardly reflecting the old character and charm of the surrounding conservation area. Balmillig has been awarded '4 stars' by the Scottish Tourist Board which indicates a very high standard of accommodation. There is plenty of space for parking within the grounds.

HELENSBURGH

Planned in the 18th Century by Sir James Colquhoun of Luss and named after his wife, Helen, the town has spectacularly leafy streets which are justly famous for their fine architecture and stunning springtime displays of daffodils, rhododendron, apple and cherry blossom. Helensburgh is well placed for touring this beautiful area where Highlands and Lowlands meet.

Helensburgh is only 45 mins by either car or frequent train to Glasgow andonly 35 mins by car from Glasgow Airport. The world famous West Highland Railway Line is just 5 mins walk from Balmillig.

Travel Directions

BY ROAD
From the south the best route is to stay on the M74 and M8 motorways following the Loch Lomond signs to cross the Clyde at the Erskine Bridge. Then take the A82 and A818 to Helensburgh via Loch Lomond or take the A82 and A814 to Helensburgh via Dumbarton and Cardross.

From the north leave the A82 three miles south of Luss by turning right onto the B832

From the east on A811 from Stirling, turn north onto the A82 at Balloch then take the A818 (signed Helensburgh).

BY RAIL
Half hourly electric train service from Glasgow to Helensburgh Central or West Highland Railway from Fort William or Glasgow to Helensburgh Upper Station.

BY AIR
From Prestwick Airport travel north via M77 to M8 and then follow 'BY ROAD' from the South' instructions.From Glasgow Airport exit airport onto M8 travelling west towards Erskine Bridge and follow 'BY ROAD' instructions.
