 | This beautiful country house is surrounded by a large garden with its own tree lined drive, a field and woodland where pheasants nest and rabbits roam. It is 1 mile out of Allendale village and 9 miles south of the historic market town of Hexham. It stands in an area of outstanding natural beauty. |
  | For those who enjoy walking and bird watching, there are many interesting and spectacular walks. Maps are provided and guided walks are sometimes available. Hadrian's Wall is only 20 minutes drive away, whilst Beamish Museum, Kielder Water and the stately homes of Wallington Hall and Cragside and are a few of the many attractions within easy reach. |
There are three bedrooms, all with private facilities and tea makers, two lounges, one with plasma TV and one with a Steinway grand piano. Guests may use these during the day if the weather is inclement. There is an ample supply of tourist information, games jigsaws and books. The house is centrally heated.
There is a wonderful garden and wood which is part of National Garden Scheme and open twice yearly for Red Cross. Feature recently in Amateur Gardiner. |  |
Mealtimes are arranged to suit guests. Full English breakfast including home made yoghurt, jams and fruit compote, is served in the dining room and there is a 3 course dinner with coffee in the evening, by arrangement.
Guests may bring their own wine. There must be a minimum of 4 guests to order dinner.
Cat lovers will particularly enjoy the original paintings of felines by international artists, as well as other cat memorabilia and the resident 2 hugh Maine Coons + 3 alley cats + 2 donkeys.
Thornley House is open at Christmas and full Christmas fare is available. There is ample parking space. Thornley House is a no-smoking house.
