Tolcarne House, Boscastle, Front of Tolcarne House

Tolcarne House is a pleasing late Victorian house, tastefully furnished to combine high standards with the comfort and friendly atmosphere of home.

We offer high quality rooms for bed & breakfast, with optional dinner from our a la Carte menu, including daily special. The bar is well stocked with a wide range of beers, spirits, liquors, cognacs and malt whisky.

Set in an acre of grounds, Tolcarne is situated in the upper coastal village of Boscastle. You will enjoy glorious views downhill to the Valency Valley and of the National Trust Cliff tops.

Tolcarne House is a ten minute walk through the old village of the historic harbour, dating back to Elizabethan times. A short walk will take you to Forrabury Common and the coastal path, adjoining which is Willapark promontory, 317ft high, which can be seen for miles and marks the entrance to Boscastle Harbour.

Tolcarne House, Boscastle, View

Situated on Cornwall's dramatic north coast but just 16 miles from the A30 Trunk Road. Boscastle attaches itself to Thomas Hardy's "A Pair of Blue Eyes", the book being set around the villages as Castle Botterell. He met his first wife Emma at St Juliots Church, one of the five ancient churches in the immediate area.

The village is set around a quaint old harbour, overhung by wooded hillsides and has, perhaps, the largest variety of scenery in the whole of North Cornwall. The harbour, the Valency Valley and Forrabury Common, with its "stitches" (strips of land divided by boundary marks dating right back to the Celts and still used), all belong to the National Trust.

Nearby Tintagel, with its Castle ruin and Old Post Office, whilst further down the coast are the fascinating villages of Port Isaac, Port Quin and Port Gaverne. These form part of the Camel Estuary an area where you may ferry from Rock to Padstow as did John Betjeman during his Cornish ventures.Tolcarne House, Boscastle, View
