This 16th Century farmhouse which was mentioned in the Doomsday Book has been tastefully extended and improved over the past twenty years so as to give the visitor a touch of olde worlde charm whilst relaxing in today's comforts.

This tastefully decorated oak beamed lodge with warming log fire where guests can unwind and enjoy aperitifs, after dinner drinks and coffee or somewhere simply to relax with a book.The nearby bar and dining room with traditional Inglenook fireplace and oak furniture all combines to create a relaxing atmosphere. At Townstal Farmhouse Hotel we pride ourselves on our reputation for good home cooking and friendly service with a smile. Our menu is varied and includes locally caught produce of the highest quality.

Our 'Titanic' style resident's bar is stocked with draught and bottled beers and a wide range of quality wines, spirits and liqueurs. A full a la carte English breakfast is served with a wide choice of menus including vegetarian options.

Our 16 en suite bedroomsare all furnished to a high standard. All have colour TV, writingfacilities, clock radio alarm, hairdryer, beverage tray and directdial telephone. In addition we are able to offer four poster bedrooms which add that special touch to any stay whether it be for an anniversary or just a quiet night away from home. For the disabled guest our ground floor access is ideal complete with ramp, specially equipped shower room with grab rails and reserved parking bay to make your stay as convenient as possible.

Right in the heart of Dartmouth is the River Dart which has been the setting for many TV and film drama. It was from this port that Sir Walter Raleigh sailed and the Pilgrim fathers took refuge whilst making repairs. That wealth of history is still in evidence today. From the half timbered Elizabethan houses around the unique Boatfleet to the cobbled quay at Bayards Cove.

Also not to be missed is twin castles of Kingswear and Dartmouth and the quaint church of St Petrox which overlooks the River Dart. For the children a visit to the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway or the award winning Woodlands Leisure park is a must - just a short ride away, with rides and activities for all, including Mum and Dad.

For those with more gentle games in mind Dartmouth Golf and Country Club (a short ride away) is the perfect setting for golf and swimming with privileged green fees and membership of the leisure club available to our guests.

On the M5south at Exeter take the A38 signposted for Plymouth. Afterapproximately 10/15 miles take the Totnes/Dartmouth exit. Keep following signs for Totnes and on the outskirts of the town turn right at the traffic lights to Kingsbridge/Dartmouth A3122.At Halwell village turn left A3122 to Dartmouth. At the outskirts of the town descend downhill for about half a mile. Shortly after the A379 turning to Blackpool Sands turn right into Townstal Road and turn right again in to our car park.
