The Best Western Valley Hotel,11K

The Best Western Valley Hotel, Ironbridge (originally an 18th century country house c.1750) is a beautifully refurbished Georgian listed building set in its own secluded and spacious grounds. Situated in the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge in the stunning Severn Gorge, the hotel has gardens adjoining European award winning parkland that sweeps down to the banks of the River Severn.

Less than 10 minutes walk down river from the hotel is the now world famous Ironbridge itself. This bridge has become a symbol of our bygone Industrial heritage, the atmosphere of which has been recaptured by the many and varied Ironbridge Gorge Museum sites. All the museum sites are within easy walking distance, or a short drive from the hotel. The Best Western Valley pre-dates the famous bridge by a quarter of a century and has historic links with the Darby family.

One industrious owner of the hotel, Mr Arthur Maw, conducted his tile manufacturing business in the Gorge. This site is now the Maws Craft Centre. Examples of Arthur Maw's highly acclaimed decorative tiles can be seen at the Jackfield Tile Museum in the hotel reception and on the main staircase.

All the hotel bedrooms have en-suite facilities and are furnished with antique-style pine furniture, some with four poster beds. Each room has its own direct-dial telephone, remote control colour television withn free satellite/video reception, tea/coffee making facilities, trouser press and hairdryer.

IRONBRIDGE GORGE

Unchanged for over a century, Ironbridge Gorge lets you relive the past. It was here that Abraham Darby perfected a new technology for making iron which led to Britain becoming the first industrial nation.Despite it's industrial past, Ironbridge Gorge is now one of the most scenic areas in the country, designated a World Heritage Site in 1987; the perfect place to unwind and escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

IRONBRIDGE MUSEUM

In its dramatic and scenic setting, the Museum is spread along the banks of the River Severn as it flows under the world's first iron bridge and through the site of Britain's early industrial heritage. Hailed as European Museum of the year in 1977, the Museum comprises not one, but six separate sites, and covers some six square miles.
