Wereham House is a charming bay-fronted Georgian house located in historic White Hart Street, which is in the older part of Thetford Town in the Heart of The Brecks.
Thetford, situated in South-West Norfolk close to the border of Suffolk, is the ideal centre for exploring East Anglia. Located near to the A11 and close to Ely, Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds, it is easily reached from other parts of the country.
Wereham House is open all year round for overnight stays, short or long breaks, business or leisure. There is a popular restaurant, and also a comfortable bar.

Car Parking and Bikes
There is off road free parking with space for approximately 15 vehicles at the rear of the hotel. An enclosed area is available for bike storage. |
Accommodation
At Wereham House there are eight comfortably furnished en-suite bedrooms with shower. These comprise of a family room (a double bed and one single), four double rooms, two twin bedded rooms and one single room. All rooms have TV with DVD/CD players, direct-dial telephones, hairdryers and coffee and tea making facilities. Free WiFi is available.
Rooms either overlook the hotel gardens or White Hart Street which is closed to through traffic.

There is a cosy bar open for residents, and diners can enjoy an aperitif or drink after their meal in the restaurant. The comfortable atmosphere of the Wereham House Restaurant offers a regularly changing Table d'hote menu, which is usually available midweek with dinner served from 7pm-8pm. Ancient House Museum (01842 752599) Recently re-opened, 15th century timber framed house with exhibitions on local history and interactive display on The Brecks.
Charles Burrell Museum Home of the famous steam traction engine company with recreated workshops, steam engines and agricultural machinery, photos, letters and documents. Small charge.

Historic sites There are many historic sites in and around Thetford, many of which offer free entry, and include Grimes Neolithic Graves, Thetford Cluniac Priory, and Thetford Medieval Warren Lodge.

Nunnery Lakes Nature Reserve 200 acres of land SE of Thetford. Interesting mixture of semi-natural habitats including woodland, Breck heath, fen and open water. 2k of permissive footpaths with interpretation boards and interpretive panels, and observation hide. Free admission.
King's House Gardens (01842 754247) Mature trees, shrubs, roses and lawns with herbaceous and formal borders. Free admission. Also tennis courts and bowling green. Situated directly behind the hotel. Book through the Town Council. |
