| The Hotel Built in 1912 as a private residence. The Westwood Country Hotel offers elegance, comfort and above all a warm welcome to our guests. Set in 3 acres of woodland gardens and surrounded by 400 acres of ancient woodland the hotel is perfectly located to enjoy Oxford and the delightful Cotswold towns and villages nearby. The gardens offer a truly relaxed atmosphere of a private country house, our 22 bedrooms have been elegantly refurbished using, in the main fabrics and wall coverings from the internationally renowed Zoffany design house. The principal reception rooms, the restaurant and bar all over look the gardens with direct access to the south facing terrace. Fine dining will be enjoyed in The Oaks Restaurant complemented by our carefully selected wine list from around the world. Oxford has a wealth to offer. Anthony Healy, and his management and staff will do their utmost to ensure your stay with us is a memorable and happy experience.   The rooms vary in size and all benefit from en-suite bathrooms, telephone, remote control televisions, tea trays and hairdryers. Room service is available as well as baby listening service. | Location The Westwood Country Hotel is perfectly located to enjoy the delights of Oxford with its dreaming spires, theatres, restaurants, and if you dare - punting. The tranquillity of the surrounding Oxfordshire countryside, an area also known as "the gateway to the Cotswolds", offers superb touring of its picturesque villages and stately houses. Blenheim Palace is within a 15 minute drive and Bath, Stonehenge and "Shakespeare Country", are all within an easy 2 hour journey time. You can play golf at the superb three course Frilford Heath (Anthony Healy is a member and can arrange tee times), enjoy horse racing at Newbury or Cheltenham (home of the gold cup) or visit the Silverstone Grand Prix Formula 1 venue and Henley Rowing regatta. The M40 and M4 motorways provide quick and easy access to Heathrow airport and other important destinations. |
| Oaks Restaurant Oaks restaurant, overlooking the gardens, is the central element of hospitality and fine dining at The Westwood Country Hotel, a fact that is reflected in the head chefs' continually changing menu of imaginative and traditional cuisine. The menu is competitively priced with entrees priced at approximately £6 and main courses from £11 to £15. Fine wines from some of the worlds' best vineyards will complement your dining experience.   Pre-dinner drinks can be enjoyed in the lounge bar and "al fresco" dining can be arranged in the Summer months on the terrace. Before or after dinner, feel free to participate in croquet on the lawn, practice your golf in our golf nets, play table tennis under floodlight, or merely have a quiet drink in our bar! As well as the Oaks restaurant we offer the Oriel room for private dining (we can accommodate 24). This opens directly on to the terrace and gardens. Our team of young and friendly staff are always on hand to provide discreet and efficient service. As a result the most intimate dining or the grandest banquet will be a memorable experience. |
| Weddings A wedding at The Westwood Country Hotel is a truly intimate and personal occasion . We have been granted a license to hold civil wedding ceremonies in three rooms at The Westwood Country Hotel: - The Oaks Room is licensed for 100 persons The Oriel Room is licensed for 30 persons The Madgalen Room is licensed for 10 persons If you wish to hold your wedding at the Hotel we can advise on the various civil procedures that must be followed.   We can offer a comprehensive wedding portfolio from red carpet on arrival to a choice of personally created menus and drinks packages at the wedding breakfast. Our wedding manager will discuss various menus with you at an early stage. We can cater for up to 130, seated, during the day with a facility to cater for up to 200 people in the evening. The gardens provide the most perfect setting for your wedding photographs and can be enjoyed by family and friends to mingle prior to the wedding breakfast. A marquee can be erected on the lawn which is capable of seating 200. The Hotel provides a unique environment which can be exclusively yours for the day and as part of the wedding package we offer the Bride and Groom complimentary use of the Four Poster Bridal Suite for the day and night together with champagne and chocolates. We actively encourage wedding guests to book accommodation at the Hotel thus creating a lovely "house party" wedding. | Business Meetings In a very short space of time the Westwood Country Hotel has established an excellent reputation as a conference and meetings venue. All the meeting rooms are well designed and equipped, enjoying beautiful views overlooking the gardens. The Oaks Room The largest conference facility, measuring approximately 11.5m by 10m. Seats up to 100 delegates theatre style, and between 50 and 70 delegates u-shape or boardroom style. The Oriel Room With direct access to the terrace and gardens, measuring 6.2m by 6m. Seats up to 30 delegates theatre style, and between 18 and 20 delegates u-shape or boardroom style. The Magdalen Room Adjoins the Oriel room and has direct access to the terrace and gardens, measures 5.4m by 4.5m. Seats up to 10 delegates in a relaxed lounge setting. The Beaumont Suite A private room with direct access to the car park and reception via the hallway. Seats up to 6 delegates boardroom style. | How to Find Us The Westwood Country Hotel is located at the top of Hinksey Hill, close to the junction of the A34 with the A4142 (Oxford Ring Road). From the M40 (South) At junction 8 follow signs to Oxford. At the roundabout take the first exit, A4142 and proceed over the next three roundabouts to the A34 junction. At this roundabout (Hinksey Hill Interchange) follow signs to Boars Hill. At the top of the hill the road curves to left. We are 100 meters along this road on the right. From the M40 (North) Take junction 9 and follow the A34 towards Newbury. Take the exit sign posted A40 / M40 (Hinksey Hill Interchange). Proceed as above. From the M4 Take the A34 and take the exit signed Oxford (Hinksey Hill Interchange). Proceed as above. By Rail Inter City from London Paddington to Oxford journey time approximately 1 hr 15 mins. The Hotel is approximately 2 miles from the station. We recommend transfer via 001 taxis 01865 240000 (approximate cost £5.00). By Bus Regular service from London Victoria to Oxford Gloucester Green. Journey time approximately 2 hours. |
