If you are fed up with the daily grind - then why not spoil yourselves with a few days' relaxation in our lovely Lakeland guest house in Windermere - at the heart of the beautiful English Lake District.

According to the house deeds, The White Rose was built in 1817, (the Georgian era), as a family home.

Now, in the twenty first century, the house has cosy, well-equipped en-suite bedrooms. If you choose to stay at the White Rose, the delicious breakfasts, comfortable bedrooms and the beautiful countryside should make your trip to the Lakes truly memorable!

Windermere is surrounded by the outstanding beauty of the lakes, mountains and fells of the English Lake District; and with our selection of tourist maps and guides - available for our guests to borrow whilst staying with us, it is really easy to plan some great driving, cycling and walking tours of the area.

We are only a few minutes' drive from Lake Windermere and just a 5 minute walk from the centre of Windermere village - where you will find a good selection of welcoming pubs, cosy cafes and top-class restaurants - serving excellent meals and some great real ales!

Information on the bedrooms

We have five very attractively decorated bedrooms and all have those little extra touches that ensure a most comfortable and enjoyable stay.

All our bedrooms are en-suite with a power shower and toilet, and all have a colour television, tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, and an alarm clock radio.

Fluffy white bath sheets and bath towels are changed daily when the bedrooms are serviced.

Our bedrooms can accommodate two, three or four people - and double bedrooms can be used for single occupation in the quieter months.

Our family suite of two bedrooms, accommodates up to five guests, but please note - we can only accept children over the age of six - as the bedrooms are on the second floor of the house.

How to find us

If travelling by train, the nearest mainline station is Oxenholme (The Lake District).

Trains to Windermere can be taken directly from Manchester Airport.

There is a direct branch line link to Windermere from Oxenholme.

From Windermere station, walk down through Windermere village along the one-way system. Immediately after the traffic lights turn left into Broad Street. The White Rose is at the far end of the road.

If travelling by car, take the M6 and exit the motorway at Junction 36.
Take the A590 towards South Lakes for about 3 to 4 miles.
Then take the A591 towards Windermere for just over 10 miles.
The road starts to drop down as you approach Windermere town.
Turn left when you see the National Westminster Bank. (You will see a Tourist Information Centre on your left, along with signs for the Railway Station).

Travel through the one-way system and immediately after the light-controlled pedestrian crossing, turn left into Broad Street. We are at the far end of the road on the left hand side.
(The parking opposite the house is free and unlimited).
