Other accommodation near Wooler

The town of Wooler is an incredibly popular tourist destination located in the county of Northumberland and it holds a particularly soft spot in the hearts of people who fancy jogging, walking, or hiking. The reason for this is because Wooler is located at the edge of the very famous Northumberland National Park. This park is the northernmost one in the entire country and it reaches all the way to the Scottish Border. As such, it has a unique and fascinating geography that is downright jaw-dropping in its beauty and prestige. This area is also home to some incredibly fascinating relics from history as the area has been inhabited for over ten thousand years. Thus the park is beloved by not only people who appreciate natural beauty but by history buffs and archeologists as well. It is also obvious that this place would of course be sought after by walkers and hikers and Wooler's popularity among the group seems like common sense at this point. At any rate, it can be rightly assumed that any town that is located within this wondrous area is filled with beautiful sights but Wooler takes it one step further by being located right near the glorious Cheviot Hills.

Wooler is often referred to as the "gateway to the Cheviots" and this nickname was earned by the fact that walkers nearly always choose Wooler over any other location because of its proximity to the grand hills. These too straddle along the border between England and Scotland and many of them stretch out thousands of feet in the air. Naturally, there are many warning signs on the more cumbersome hills and this is a good thing; people have been injured and killed throughout history by these daunting masses. Either way, Wooler is certainly good to the people that form a large portion of the town's income. Many beautiful shops and cafes are located in the town and they provide the necessary sustenance that is required for a hiker to take on the challenging landmasses that are visible from nearly every part of Wooler. There are also plenty of lovely hotels and inns that offer luxury and relaxation to tourists after a long day of fighting against the forces of nature. Wooler takes it a step further by offering youth hostels as well so that people from all around the world can share in the pleasure that the Northumberland National Park delivers.

Those that appreciate history can also enjoy Wooler without having to use the town as simply a place to stop over on the way to the more ancient parts of the Park. Humbleton Hill is a very popular spot because of a massive battle that took place on its soil. Scotland was defeated by Harry Hotspur and the whole skirmish was forever immortalized in Shakespeare's Henry IV. There is also a very old picture house in Wooler that was made famous when it housed evacuated children during World War II. This is the nature of Wooler, though: It truly has something to offer everybody no matter where their interests lie. Few towns are able to achieve this and thus it is important to hold Wooler in nothing but the highest regard.
