Other accommodation near Bridgnorth

In the Severn Valley Bridgnorth is part of the Shropshire region. The Town is split into two sections, Low Town and High Town dependent on their elevations as related to the River Severn which runs through the town splitting it.

There are several places for tourists to visit during their stay. One of the places that must be seen during this your visit is the ruins of Bridgnorth Castle. The castle was built in 1101 and thanks to damage inflicted on it during the English Civil War the castle was left at a fifteen degree angle. It truly is a sight to see.

Also a place to see is St Mary Magdalene's Church which was rebuilt in the late eighteenth century. Thomas Telford designed this magnificent structure. The original nave, chancel, and western tower were most likely built in 1238. Rather than being build in the traditional manner of west to east, this building is built in a north to south position. It's most notable feature is the one hundred twenty foot high clock tower that has eight bells and a copper roof.

When you are in Bridgnorth be sure to take a trip on the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway. The railway joins the Low Town area to the High Town area. The track runs on a gradient of from one foot to one hundred eleven feet and has a length of two hundred one feet. This rail way has been in use since 1892 and is an alternate way to travel in between the two parts of the two sides of town verses the two hundred steps between them. This is a neat trip to take during your stay.

While you visit Bridgnorth be sure to wander the town. Not only will you get to see a beautiful town but you can find different shops and eateries to enjoy during your stay.

If you don't mind a small trip out of town there are several little towns to check out. Broseley can teach everyone a thing or two about pipes. The Broseley Pipeworks museum can teach you all about pipes. It can make the even the most novice pipe collector into a pipe enthusiast.

The Iron bridge Gorge Museum is a nice way to spend an afternoon. You can learn about fine china, view a recreated Victorian town, and view decorative tiles. The Ironbridge Gorge Museum has been given the honor of being named as a World Heritage Site as well.

The historic sites and lovely views are an excellent reason to visit the town of Bridgnorth Shropshire.
