Harrogate in North Yorkshire is a quaint and gorgeous spa town in the north east of England. This special water was first discovered in the late 1500's when William Slingsby noticed Iron and Sulphur in the water. Ever since then Harrogate has been a popular spa town attracting everyone from the neighbours to kings and queens from all over the world.

Due to its location it is easily accessible via a variety of ways. There are an impressive 4 railway stations in Harrogate. From here you can get access to the train to London. By the time you read this (end 2009) there should be an excellent direct link to London via a newly formed company called "First Harrogate Trains". If you want to stay closer then York it is easily reached, but the town probably has the strongest connection with Leeds. There are trains and buses every few minutes as well as to Leeds, Bradford international airport. Other places of interest that are included in the comprehensive bus and train routes include Ripon, Wetherby, Bradford and Boston Spa.

If you arrive by public transport it will be hard to get away from Station Parade. This impressive looking walkway runs over the road to the train station. There are many fine buildings ones you enter the town and there are a large number of churches and other places of worship to look at. To name just a few, St. Wilfrid's Church, St Robert's Church and the Trinity Methodist Church are all worth visiting. The Harroga5te conference centre is one of the largest in the UK and it probably is most famous as the host of the Eurovision Song Contest in 1982, famously won by Nicole from Germany at a very young age with "ein Bisschen frieden" or "A little peace".

Make sure you also visit the Harrogate Cenotaph which stands impressive amongst a great flower display.

There is practically no reason to go to Harrogate and miss out on a visit to Betty's. It is one of the best known Tea Rooms in the world. It is owned by the makers of the delicious Yorkshire Tea and everyone in the town will easily guide you to one of the 2 tea Rooms they have in the town. You can combine this visit to one of the many shopping streets in Harrogate or a visit to the numerous boutique shops the town is rich.
