Manchester is a vibrant and lively city in the north west of England. It attracts the most visitors of any location in England outside of London even though to most Englishmen it is an industrial city with nothing to offer.

The location in itself is a gem as it is closely bordered by the Cheshire Plans and the Pennines which both are gorgeous locations to visit. Manchester thanks a lot of its fame on the sporting world. In 2002 it was host to the Commonwealth games and it is the hometown of two famous soccer teams called Manchester City and Manchester United, of which the latter has been champions many a time including champions of Europe via a win in the Champions League.

Travelling to and from Manchester is almost easier then London via Machester Airport the whole world can be reached and via the rail link London and Glasgow are easily reached as well as smaller places in between.

Manchester is home to architectural buildings ranging from Victorian style to contemporary and everything in between. Beetham Tower is the tallest building in Manchester whilst The Town Hall in Albert Square is regarded as one of the most important Victorian buildings in Europe. Beetham might not have the distinction of being the tallest or as long as in 2008 construction began on Picadilly tower right behind the railway station with the same name.

You can find over 130 parks in Manchester and none of which is larger than Heaton Park in the north of the city. Two large squares hold many of Manchester's public monuments. Albert Square has monuments to Prince Albert, Bishop James Fraser, Oliver Heywood, William Ewart Gladstone and John Bright. Piccadilly Gardens has monuments dedicated to Queen Victoria, Robert Peel, James Watt and the Duke of Wellington. You can even find a statue of Abraham Lincoln here on Lincoln square thanks to a family from Ohio who donated it to the city.

If you want to get around and see all of these landmarks you can easily hop on and off one of the busses in Manchester. There are more than 50 bus companies operating lines in the Manchester area and there is even a Zero-Fare bus taking you to and from the business areas of the city.
